Building Active Communities: Youth Active Participation Quiz in Šećerana (Croatia)

Can learning about civic engagement be fun? The Youth Hub activity in Šećerana proved that it can.

Through an interactive quiz on active youth participation, young people explored topics such as volunteering, community involvement, youth rights and the many ways they can contribute to local life. Rather than simply testing knowledge, the quiz sparked conversations, encouraged participants to share their opinions and challenged them to think about the role young people play in creating positive change.

Working together to answer questions and discuss different scenarios, participants discovered that active participation is not limited to formal decision-making. Small everyday actions, volunteering, organising local initiatives or simply speaking up about issues that matter can all make a meaningful impact on their community.

The activity also created an informal space for young people to connect, exchange experiences and learn from one another. By combining learning with interaction and teamwork, the session demonstrated that civic education can be both engaging and practical, helping young people gain the confidence and motivation to become more active members of their communities.
